The Cross Community Coalition was formed in 1987 by
residents of Elyria, Globeville, and Swansea neighborhoods in northeast
Denver for the purpose of bringing together residents to work to address
issues of common concern, i.e. those that cross neighborhood, ethnic,
and religious boundaries.
Mission:
To bring together people of diverse backgrounds and
experiences who live in the Elyria, Globeville, and Swansea
neighborhoods to work together to create positive social and economic
change by providing opportunities for individuals and family achievement
and improving the quality of life for all residents.
The Coalition forwards its mission, through the
Family Resource Center, in four ways:
1.
By developing agreements with local government and other agencies
whereby they agree to provide staff, services, resources and/or programs
to our residents and we provide office space, outreach, and support.
2.
By initiating programs to provide other needed services when no
agency exists or is willing to provide the services.
3.
By offering education and training to residents.
4.
By organizing residents to work together on issues which can be
addressed at the community level.
