Linking Families with the Community

The Community College of Aurora’s Lowry Family Center opened in March, 1995.  The Center’s purpose is to create a safe, healthy, and cohesive community through individual and family support and empowerment.  The Lowry Family Center provides an opportunity for families to share their strengths and resources in a friendly environment.  We assist family members to become economically stable and move toward self-sufficiency.  The Center reflects the diversity of the community and is accessible to all families.

The Lowry Family Center offers referrals and services in the following areas:

  • After school enrichment programs

  • Summer camp

  • Tutorial services for students

  • Parent support groups

  • Women’s support groups

  • Teen support groups

  • Crisis counseling

  • Male mentoring

  • Medical/dental care

  • Child care

  • Food banks

  • Clothing

  • Job training

  • Housing

  • Education counseling

  • Furniture

  • Evaluation and support for special needs

  • Prenatal care

  • Gang prevention

  • Counseling for mental health, marriage, drug/alcohol abuse, family/individual/sexual abuse
